Under the guidance of prosecutors from the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense, a local resident has been charged with attempting to commit a terrorist act (Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, at the beginning of February, a resident of Odesa received an offer via Telegram to prepare a terrorist act in Odesa using explosives. The organizer determined the time, place, and targets to be attacked. After the crime was committed, the suspect was promised a payment of $3,000.

Following the organizer's instructions, he manufactured an explosive device and arrived at a parking lot opposite the administrative building, where the designated vehicle was located. To document the act, the suspect set up a smartphone nearby to record everything on video, then left the scene. On the same day, the vehicle was detonated remotely, resulting in injuries to a passerby and damage to parked cars and the facade of the building.

Later that evening, law enforcement detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A motion for a preventive measure is being prepared.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigative department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region with the operational support of the SBU, the Central Investigation Department of the National Police, and the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner by a court verdict.
