At the age of 90, General-Lieutenant (retired) Mykola Petrovych Leifura has passed away. His life was entirely devoted to serving his country, and for the last two decades, he was actively involved in the veterans' movement in Odessa.
From a young age, Mykola Petrovych chose the noble profession of military service, becoming a career officer. Throughout his service, he commanded a tank platoon, company, battalion, regiment, and mechanized division. He concluded his career as the deputy commander of the Odessa Military District.
He was awarded numerous honors, including orders for service to the Fatherland of the III and II degrees, as well as the orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the III and II degrees.
In his later years, Mykola Petrovych led the city Council of War Veterans, served as deputy chairman of the regional veterans' organization, and was a member of the Council of Veterans of Ukraine.
With Mykola Leifura's passing, a whole era ends, but his important mission of supporting veterans takes on new significance and will be continued by the modern generation.
