The municipal enterprise «Urban Roads» consistently undertakes the maintenance of stormwater drainage systems to keep them in proper condition.

Experts perform repairs and cleaning of storm collectors, catch basin grates, drainage wells, and specialized hydraulic structures (drainage ditches, Buffer pond) from sludge, leaves, trash, and reeds.

Stormwater drainage cleaning operations in Odessa are continuously executed according to a city-wide plan. During heavy rains, response teams from «Urban Roads» work additionally on the streets. The municipal workers clear the catch basin grates from fallen leaves and debris carried by rainwater, ensuring a free flow of water from the city's streets.

In the first nine months of the current year, the workers completed the following cleaning tasks: 15,369 p/m of ditches, 3,902 catch basins, 4,997 collectors, and 21,479 m/p of pipe flushing.

Additionally, workers mowed grass on ditches and channels of hydraulic structures (10,060 p/m) and cleaned 1,735.6 sq.m of the Buffer pond.

Cleaning operations for stormwater drainage systems are conducted manually and with the assistance of heavy equipment from «Urban Roads»: excavators with specialized attachments, motor graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units based on MAN trucks for flushing pipes, along with other specialized vehicles.

Moreover, specialists from «Urban Roads» carry out repairs on wells, replace pipes in catch basins, and elevate grates to road level when necessary.

Since the beginning of 2024, employees have installed and replaced grates on 55 catch basin wells and repaired 26 catch basins with new castings.

During operation, catch basin grates may settle, creating potholes in the roadway that can lead to accidents. Experts from «Urban Roads» regularly address this issue.

Since the start of this year, municipal workers have raised 91 settled catch basin grates to road level and set 19 inspection wells to the level of the roadway. They also repaired 8 inspection wells with new castings and installed cover slabs on 3 inspection wells and 11 catch basins.

Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, employees have repaired 41 p/m of collectors, conducted video inspections of 556 p/m of collectors, and pumped out 1,039 cubic meters of stormwater from the roadway.
