The Odesa regional prosecutor's office has submitted an indictment to the court against three individuals who were part of an organized criminal group responsible for orchestrating arson at railway facilities during martial law (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Investigations revealed that the accused received orders from a Russian intelligence agent via a messenger app, promising financial rewards for carrying out diversions at Odesa railway facilities.

In August 2024, they used a specially prepared incendiary mixture to set fire to 8 relay cabinets along railway sections and stations in the Odesa region.

The arsonists operated according to the typical scheme of Russian intelligence services: first scouting potential targets, obtaining approval, then committing arson and recording it on video. They received money for each completed task, which was shared among the group members.

All accused individuals are currently in custody.

The investigation and operational support were conducted by the SBU in the Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
