ChatGPT has received a significant update for its voice mode, which is now integrated directly into the main chat interface. OpenAI has made interactions more natural by removing the need to switch to a separate screen to talk with the chatbot.
Previously, activating the voice mode would take users to a special page with an animated blue circle, a mute button, and a video recording feature. In this separate interface, the chatbot's responses were only vocal, meaning users couldn't see them on the screen. If a response was missed, users had to exit the mode to read the text.
Now, everything has changed. During voice conversations, users can simultaneously see responses on the screen: text, images, maps, and other elements appear in real-time. A review of previous messages is also available, making the communication experience more logical and coherent.
Switching between voice and text within a single conversation has become easier – simply hit the "Finish" button to return to the regular input mode.
The new voice mode is now set as the default and is being gradually rolled out in the web version and mobile apps of ChatGPT.
Users accustomed to the old separate interface can still revert to it by enabling the "Separate mode" option in the settings.
