Illegal Shrimp Harvesting in Tiligul Lagoon
On April 3, 2025, a joint raid was conducted by environmental inspectors and representatives of the State Border Guard Service near the village of Tanivka in the Tiligul Regional Landscape Park, Odesa. This information was reported by the Southern-Western Regional Environmental Inspectorate.
During the inspection, 13 abandoned shrimp nets totaling 11 meters in length were discovered in the Tiligul Lagoon. The illegal fishing gear was confiscated. Thanks to prompt action, aquatic life was saved: 3 kg of shrimp, 2 kg of gobies, and 2 kg of atherina were returned to the water.
"Conservationists urge the public not to remain indifferent and to report instances of poaching, so together we can preserve the unique nature of Odesa" - the statement reads.
