For the year 2024, the city program includes the replacement of 91 elevators, contingent on funding from the city budget. Additionally, funds have already been allocated for the repair of 44 elevators that have served over 25 years.
The cost of replacing one elevator ranges from 1.5 to 2.3 million UAH depending on the number of floors and load capacity. On average, repairing one elevator takes up to two months.
According to the Department of Urban Development, new elevators have been installed in apartment buildings located at the following addresses: Nebesnoi Sotni St., 6; Hlodan Family St. (Ilfa and Petrov), 17 and 29; Academician Zabolotny St., 49; Prince Yaroslav the Wise Ave. (Academician Hlushko), 34 and 11; and Lustdorf Road, 164.
Experts state that modern elevators are 40% more energy-efficient. In case of a power outage, emergency evacuation is planned, allowing residents to reach the nearest floor without delay, thus minimizing the risk of being trapped in the elevator shaft.
Since 2016, Odesa has replaced over 1,500 elevators. The city’s elevator restoration program was temporarily halted due to the full-scale invasion, but work resumed at the beginning of 2024.
Note
All new elevators are equipped with modern technology: frequency regulation and door control systems that ensure smooth operation; movement control systems for the main hoist motor that extend its lifespan.
This equipment allows for the use of less powerful motors, saving energy, reducing stress on structural elements, preventing jolts during start and stop, and enhancing user comfort.
The cabins of all upgraded and replaced elevators are lined with anti-vandal coating, which provides excellent protection against mechanical damage. They are also equipped with anti-vandal lamps and metal buttons that cannot be ignited or removed from the panel. All elevators feature mirrors and handrails.
