The latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2026 has recognized 22 Ukrainian universities, which is five more than last year. Among them are two universities from Odesa. This information comes from the World University Rankings 2026 data.
This year, Ukraine set a record for the number of universities listed in the Times Higher Education rankings — 22 institutions made the cut. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov was placed in the 1501+ group, while Odesa Polytechnic University was designated as a "ranking participant".
The best-performing Ukrainian university was Sumy State University, which ranked in the 801–1000 group. Other institutions, including those from Odesa, found themselves in lower tiers of the rankings, yet their inclusion reflects a gradual advancement and improvement in the standards of Ukrainian education. Despite challenging circumstances, universities continue to foster research activities, expand international collaborations, and attract students from various countries.
