Last week, healthcare facilities in Odesa organized an event focused on the prevention and early detection of hearing issues among adults and children. This initiative was supported by the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council and the Odesa City Health Center.
Everyone interested could undergo free hearing screening and receive consultations from specialists; referrals for further testing were provided as necessary.
During the event, 426 individuals were screened for hearing, including 251 children. The examinations revealed 116 cases of hearing disorders, with 64 cases affecting children.
66 patients received referrals for audiometry due to identified hearing conditions. ENT specialists provided recommendations and consultations during the event to all attendees.
Modern equipment for diagnosing hearing disorders was purchased for Odesa's medical facilities using city budget funds. Doctors remind that hearing checks should be done regularly — at least once a year. It is also crucial to see a doctor if there is a sudden change in hearing.
Do not hesitate to visit a doctor if you experience:
- ear pain or discharge;
- sudden hearing loss in one ear;
- concerns about your child's hearing.
