The sports team «Odesa-Basket» led by Vasyl Rybak, head of the rehabilitation service at the Odesa City Council's Department of Health, participated in a national billiards championship for men and women with mobility impairments, veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and their families.
The tournament took place from October 11 to 13, 2024, in Kyiv at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine.
On the first day of the tournament, Serhii Kotsiuba, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war and a leading specialist of the city rehabilitation service, took first place in the overall standings.
The next day, Serhii Kotsiuba won the Ukrainian championship in sports billiards. The third place in the overall standings was shared by Odesa players, «Odesa-Basket» team members Dmytro Danylov and Valerii Chuhuev.
«The experience of the «Odesa-Basket» club, supported by the Odesa city authorities, is a powerful example of the rehabilitation of servicemen and veterans through adaptive sports,» emphasized Vasyl Rybak.
