“Restoring Hope”: a new patriotic mural has appeared in Odesa, dedicated to Ukrainian children who have fallen victim to abduction.
On one of Odesa’s beaches, Ukrainian artist Andriy Yermolenko created a mural depicting a girl behind barbed wire — a symbol of abducted and forcibly deported Ukrainian children to Russia. Her gaze is filled with emotion, pain, and longing. Above her heart is a red map of Ukraine, symbolizing a living identity despite attempts to erase it.
She is adorned with a wreath of blue and yellow flowers — a sign of hope and connection to the homeland. Next to the girl, sitting on the barbed wire, is a titmouse — a symbol of home and peace, reminding that Ukraine awaits its children.
This mural is the first in Ukraine dedicated to affected children, with a previous one created in Lviv.
