On August 19, 2025, an important meeting took place in Odessa to determine appropriate locations for mobile shelters in areas with high foot traffic.
The event was led by acting deputy mayor Sergey Kotsyuba and advisor on accessibility issues Alexey Morozov.
Participants included representatives from key departments: Elena Buinevich, Director of the Department of Education, Elena Kytainska, Director of the Department of Labor, and Alexander Zhiltsov, Director of the Department of Internal Policy.
“Our goal is to create safe spaces for Odessa residents in places where people gather. It is crucial to quickly identify suitable locations and verify that shelters meet standards,” noted Sergey Kotsyuba.
The main topics discussed included the compliance of mobile shelters with standards and their placement in areas where large crowds gather.
“Accessibility in safety matters is essential. Mobile shelters must be accessible to persons with disabilities and all individuals with reduced mobility — from approaches to internal space,” emphasized Alexey Morozov.
As a result of the meeting, the departments will prepare proposals regarding locations and provide information on the technical condition of the shelters.
