Severe weather is affecting Odessa. As of this morning, 47 trees and large branches have been knocked down by strong winds.
There have also been several incidents of downed power lines and street lighting.
The city’s municipal services are engaged in recovery efforts.
Emergency situations are being handled by specialists from municipal enterprises such as «Miskzelentrest», «City Roads», «Housing and Communal Services», «Odessmisksvitlo», and others.
The workers are sawing fallen trees and transporting them away, as well as cleaning up the streets from debris.
Firstly, the specialists from KP «Miskzelentrest» and KP «City Roads» are clearing roads, highways, and pedestrian paths from fallen trees, as well as removing any obstructions to access socially significant facilities. The employees of KP «Housing and Communal Services» are working in residential areas.
Currently, 44 addresses have been addressed, with 3 more still in progress.
Specialists from KP «City Roads» are additionally cleaning the grates of stormwater drains, washing hoses, and clearing collectors. A total of 269 workers and 48 units of special equipment are deployed in the city. No street flooding has been recorded so far.
Drivers are urged not to leave vehicles on the grates of stormwater drains and in close proximity to them, as this complicates the work of the special equipment.
According to weather forecasts, gusty winds of 15-20 m/s will persist throughout the day in Odessa.
In light of adverse weather conditions, the Odessa city council urges residents and guests to be vigilant, limit movement and travel within the city, especially for the elderly, children, and pregnant women.
It is advised not to leave vehicles under trees and power lines, and to exercise caution when moving near trees, as rain and gusty winds may cause branches and cables to fall.
Due to the storm in the Black Sea, the risk of mine danger is increasing. There is a high probability of sea mines being dislodged from their anchors and drifting to the shore, as well as along the coastline. We once again remind residents and visitors that the danger of being in the beach area is extremely high. An uncontrolled mine explosion is quite possible, especially during stormy weather. If a sea mine (or objects resembling them) is found, do not touch them. It is imperative to report immediately by calling 102.
