At the beginning of the year, a new cardiology department specializing in cardiac surgery opened at Odessa City Hospital No. 11.
This initiative marks a significant advancement in providing high-quality medical care to patients with cardiovascular diseases within a multipurpose hospital.
The department can assist approximately 1000 patients annually, offering medical services free of charge under the state medical guarantee program.
The establishment of its own cardiac surgical unit facilitates the implementation of organ transplantation services.
The department has already successfully performed its first surgical procedure involving the implantation of a dual-chamber pacemaker.
According to head of the department, Natalia Mojei, the operation was performed on an 80-year-old woman with complete atrioventricular block. The intervention was conducted based on life-threatening indications, adhering to international and national clinical guidelines. The patient's condition has significantly improved, and she is expected to be discharged shortly.
Such surgeries represent a crucial step in enhancing specialized cardiac surgical care in Odessa.
