On September 30, 2025, a devastating rainfall hit Odesa, resulting in a two-month precipitation amount falling in just one day. This caused significant issues for the local community: roads and homes were flooded, electricity was lost in certain areas, public transport ceased to function, and trees were uprooted.
Unfortunately, despite the prompt response efforts involving all emergency services and municipal organizations, the disaster claimed human lives.
In memory of the victims, October 2, 2025, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Odesa.
The National Flag of Ukraine and the flag of Odesa will be flown at half-mast with mourning ribbons on all buildings.
Businesses and organizations are advised to limit entertainment activities and music use.
The Mayor of Odesa, the Odesa City Council, and its Executive Committee express their condolences to the families of the victims.
