In 2024, Odesa and Gdansk will celebrate 35 years of their partnership. To mark this occasion, a festive concert and other cultural events are scheduled in Gdansk under the initiative «Odesa Pays a Visit».
During the visit to the sister city, the Odesa delegation discussed the organizational details of the cultural program.
An important focus was on developing professional cooperation. Invited by the Polish side, the Odesa delegation attended the international exhibition BALEXPO 2025, where key topics included port infrastructure, logistics, and innovations.

«This was a unique opportunity to showcase the potential of our community and neighboring areas, confirming our desire for joint development with European partners», — emphasized Olena Zakarchenko-Netuzhilova, the Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing.

During the meetings, the following topics were discussed:

  • expanding partnership ties;
  • sharing experiences in local-level Eurointegration;
  • joint project development for attracting funding from European sources;
  • intermunicipal cooperation and the creation of functional territories;
  • Ukrainian civil protection practices during wartime.

«Partnership with Odesa is about trust, joint initiatives, and the desire to move forward together», — highlighted Gdansk's Deputy Mayor Mr. Piotr Grzelak.

Gdansk is a port city on the Baltic coast of Poland, rich in history, multicultural heritage, and strategic significance. Like Odesa, it blends maritime trade, architectural beauty, dramatic historical events, and a spirit of revival.
