The municipal enterprise «City Roads» is dedicated to maintaining effective stormwater drainage throughout the city.
Specialists are involved in the repair and cleaning of stormwater collectors, drainage grates, catch basins, and other specialized hydraulic structures such as drainage ditches and buffer ponds, removing mud, leaves, trash, and reeds.
The cleaning of stormwater drainage systems in Odessa is carried out regularly according to a plan, and during heavy rains, emergency crews from «City Roads» work on the streets to clear the grates from fallen leaves and debris carried by the rainwater, ensuring unobstructed drainage.
In the first eleven months of this year, the enterprise completed significant cleaning works: 16,887 linear meters of ditches and ditches were cleaned, 4,374 catch basins, 5,273 linear meters of collectors, and 23,999 linear meters of pipes were flushed.
Additionally, employees mowed grass on 10,465 linear meters of ditches and cleaned 1,735.6 square meters of the buffer pond.
The cleaning operations are performed manually and with the help of heavy specialized machinery, including excavators with special attachments, motor graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units based on MAN trucks for flushing pipes.
Furthermore, the specialists at «City Roads» also repair the catch basins, replace pipes in the catch basins, and if necessary, raise the grates to road level and restore the manhole covers.
Since the beginning of 2024, the employees have installed and replaced 58 grates on catch basins and repaired 34 catch basins with new castings.
During operation, the grates of catch basins may sink, creating potholes in the roadway, which can lead to accidents. The specialists at «City Roads» regularly rectify this issue.
Thus, since the beginning of this year, the municipal workers have raised 96 sunken catch basin grates to road level and installed 20 manholes to the level of the roadway. They have also repaired 8 manholes with new castings and installed cover slabs on 4 manholes and 12 catch basins.
Moreover, since the beginning of the year, 45 linear meters of collectors have been repaired, video inspections of 588 linear meters of collectors have been conducted, and 1,081 cubic meters of stormwater have been pumped from the road surface.
