Ukraine has successfully repatriated 909 bodies of military personnel who lost their lives in various combat zones.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war.
Details on the repatriation of fallen soldiers
The bodies were recovered from the following areas:
- Kurakhove
- Pokrovsk
- Bakhmut
- Vuhledar
- Luhansk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv.
Bodies were also returned from morgues located within Russia.
The repatriation was carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration, the authorized representative for missing persons, and international organizations.
The bodies will be transported to designated state facilities where law enforcement and forensic experts will identify the deceased.
After identification, the remains of the fallen defenders will be handed over to their families for burial.
Previous Repatriation Efforts
On March 28, 909 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were successfully returned.
On February 14, Ukraine repatriated 757 bodies of soldiers who died in various combat zones.
On January 24, 757 bodies of military personnel were returned.
On December 20, Ukraine returned 503 bodies of soldiers.
On November 29, 502 bodies of armed forces personnel were repatriated.
On November 8, 563 bodies of military personnel were returned.
On October 18, 501 bodies of soldiers were repatriated.
On August 2, 250 bodies of fallen soldiers from various regions and morgues in Russia were returned.
On June 14, 254 fallen defenders were repatriated and will be handed over to their families after identification.
