The indictment has been sent to court. The driver faces restrictions on freedom and loss of driving privileges.
The traffic incident occurred in a village within the Lyman community.
During the preliminary investigation, detectives established that a 47-year-old local woman was negligent while driving her «Chery» vehicle, failed to maintain a safe speed, and struck a 15-year-old girl who was crossing the road, despite being able to avoid the accident.
As a result of the accident, the child sustained injuries including pelvic fractures, classified by a forensic expert as moderate bodily harm.
The driver was unharmed and tested for intoxication—she was sober.
During the investigation, the vehicle was impounded, and several expert examinations were ordered.
According to police chief Eduard Kolomiyets, sufficient evidence was gathered, including various expert findings, leading to charges against the driver for violating traffic safety rules causing moderate bodily harm. The investigation is complete, and the indictment pursuant to part 1 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been submitted to court.
The driver faces up to three years of restriction of freedom and loss of driving privileges for the same period.
