An incident occurred on Heroes of Defense of Odessa street when a man attacked a woman in the stairwell of a residential building, stole her jewelry, and fled. The police quickly responded and arrested the suspect within a few hours.
The event took place on the morning of April 15, when a 63-year-old woman was returning home. The man followed her into the stairwell, cornered her, and held a knife to her throat while stealing a gold chain.
Law enforcement arrived promptly at the scene, utilized canine units, and identified the assailant in less than a day. He was a 33-year-old man, previously convicted and homeless. It turned out that he exchanged the stolen chain for drugs. Authorities are working to locate the jewelry.
"The offender has been detained in accordance with the procedure and placed in a detention facility. He has already been charged under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for robbery committed under martial law conditions. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa," the report states.
