Two leading maritime educational institutions in Odessa are set to merge into one. This decision was made during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the leadership of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and Odessa National Maritime University.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi discussed with the heads of both universities the need to unite into a single educational institution. The participants agreed that this decision would be a significant step towards improving the quality of education.
Details regarding the merger, timelines, and leadership of the new establishment were discussed, along with other important issues related to the creation of a new university based on the two existing ones.
The main goal of this initiative is to create a strong modern maritime university in Ukraine, aimed at enhancing the overall maritime education system.
Previously, it was reported that the academy was to be merged with the university, which faced some resistance from the academy's administration.
