Workers from the municipal enterprise «Green City» have begun preparing the city’s green infrastructure for the autumn-winter period.
According to the approved plan, this autumn, 380 young trees (plane trees, catalpas, birches, acacias, sophoras, and others) will be planted in Odessa. All trees are 8-10 years old and have been grown for planting in the urban environment.
Additionally, there are plans to plant 1500 shrubs and 3000 units of miscanthus (a perennial herbaceous plant).
The planting works are expected to start around mid-October.
Starting in early November, the enterprise will begin winterizing the automatic irrigation systems. There are about 50 irrigation systems under the management of «Green City», located in various districts, including parks and squares.
Furthermore, preparations for winter have already begun at the greenhouse facility of the «Floral Beauty» enterprise. The greenhouses operate year-round, with preparations for the following year starting in September.
On an area of 4000 square meters, work is ongoing to insulate the greenhouses and prepare seeds for next year. Annually, around 1 million plants are grown in the greenhouses (250,000 spring flowers, 250,000 pot flowers, and about 500,000 other seedlings) and approximately 11,000 decorative leafy trees.

In 2024, Odessa will see the planting of 200,000 spring flowers (daisies, selenes, violas) and 200,000 summer flowers (salvia, tagetes, chlorophytum, geranium, coleus). The city will also be decorated with 100 hanging flower pots.
Additionally, in September this year, landscapers planted 5,000 chrysanthemum bushes that will bloom in a week or two, beautifying the autumn city with flowers.
