Investigators have completed their pre-trial investigation into a woman who caused damages exceeding 48,000 hryvnias to her victims. The indictment has been submitted to the court. The offender faces a potential prison sentence.
The fraudster operated at a market in the Peresyp district, pretending to be an expert in gadget and appliance repairs. She offered her services and five trusting individuals handed over their phones and tablets for protective glass installation, as well as a robot vacuum needing charger repairs. Promising quick returns, the "craftswoman" vanished with the items.
In this manner, she inflicted a total loss of over 48,000 hryvnias on the citizens.
After waiting in vain for their belongings, the victims reported the incident to the police. Through prompt action, officers from Police Department No. 2 of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1 identified and located the perpetrator, a 36-year-old local resident. She had managed to sell the vacuum and two phones, but law enforcement tracked down all the devices and returned them to their owners.
Investigators gathered sufficient evidence and charged the woman under parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for fraud by deceit, specifically committed repeatedly. The indictment has been sent to court, and she faces up to three years of imprisonment.
The investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa.
Police urge citizens to be cautious and to seek services from verified specialists and official service centers.
