Alexander Volodymyrovich Bleshunov is a remarkable figure, an engineer, and a well-known mountaineer. His name is associated with a mountain pass in Eastern Pamir and a peak located between the glaciers of Harmo and Vavilov. In addition to mountaineering, collecting art pieces was a significant part of Bleshunov's life.
At the end of his life, he donated his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was inaugurated in Odessa, which from 1992 has been named after O. V. Bleshunov.
This unique collection, comprising over 10,000 items, including world-class rarities, is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. To honor Alexander Volodymyrovich Bleshunov's contributions to the city, his star was ceremoniously unveiled on the Walk of Stars in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
