The Odesa Youth Theater named after Yuri Olesha has officially achieved academic status, marking years of contribution to culture.

Acknowledgment of this status reflects the high professional level of the team – actors, directors, set designers, and technical specialists. The academic status paves the way for additional government support, broadening creative endeavors, and strengthening the theater's role in the cultural landscape of the region.
Since 1919, the honorary title of «academic» has been awarded to the largest and oldest theaters in Ukraine. It is noteworthy that the Odesa Youth Theater was founded in 1930 by graduates of the Odesa Theater School. In 2021, the Odesa Regional State Administration requested the Ministry of Culture to grant the Odesa Youth Theater academic status.
