From October 10 to 12, 2025, the fifth anniversary festival «Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Latvia» took place in Riga, becoming an essential platform for cultural relations between Ukraine and Latvia.

The festival was organized with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema, as well as the efforts of the Charitable Foundation ChF "Doors", the NGO «International Association for the Development and Support of Ukrainian Culture», and the Latvian organization «DijaTi».

This year, the festival was special — for the first time, a Round Table titled «Prospects for the Development of Ukrainian Cinematography and Co-production with European Filmmakers» was held, uniting representatives from the cultural and educational sectors of both countries.

The festival continued with screenings of Ukrainian films presented by Ukrainian filmmakers.

The head of the board of the «Odesa Film Studio» Anna Docheva presented the film «Why I Am Alive» directed by Vilēns Novaks, created at the Odesa Film Studio, which has already become iconic in the recent history of Ukrainian cinema.

During the festival, Valters Kagainis was awarded the «Legends of Odesa Film Studio» award for his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinematography and collaboration with the Odesa Film Studio.

Screenings were held at the Ksuns/Kinogalerija cinema and the Ukrainian House in Latvia (Ukrainas māja Latvijā).
