«Today, over 360,000 children study abroad while continuing to receive Ukrainian education remotely. Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their location, has access to quality Ukrainian education. The Ukrainian studies component allows them to maintain their connection to Ukraine without the burden of extra educational demands. The platform for the Ukrainian studies component is a simple and convenient tool that automates the registration process, making it comprehensible for parents in various countries,» noted Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Nadiya Kuzmychova.
What is the Ukrainian studies component?
It is a specialized educational program for Ukrainian students temporarily living abroad.
It provides:
- reduced educational load;
- the opportunity to continue receiving Ukrainian education remotely;
- the ability to simultaneously attend a local school.
What is studied within the program?
- Ukrainian language
- Ukrainian literature
- History of Ukraine
- Geography of Ukraine
- Basics of law
- Defense of Ukraine
Other subjects that the child learns at the local school abroad can be credited towards the Ukrainian educational program.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Education and Science has developed a grading scale for a specified list of countries where Ukrainian students reside.
This initiative will help children remain part of the Ukrainian education system—without overload and while maintaining ties to Ukraine.
