In the cities of Berezivka, Odesa, and Podilsk, unique events were held where young people had the opportunity to learn about the profession of forensics. This was a chance to see various crime investigation methods, understand the importance of upholding the law, and perhaps decide on their future career.
At seminars conducted in schools and police departments, participants learned that forensic specialists need to be skilled in crime scene investigation, using technical equipment, documenting and classifying found evidence, and analyzing gathered information. The quality of their work directly impacts the resolution of crimes. Experts shared their experiences, providing examples where even minor pieces of evidence helped identify criminals.
The boys and girls were informed about the police's procedural steps at crime scenes, evidence collection methods, and even had a chance to try their hand at fingerprinting. Many were eager to learn how to search for fingerprints of a hypothetical offender at a simulated event.
Officers also showcased new technologies they use in their work: electrostatic mats for detecting shoe prints, rapid tests for drug identification, drones for assessing areas affected by disasters, and mobile DNA laboratories.
