Odesa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov held a meeting with representatives of an international medical organization to discuss new healthcare initiatives.
In 2024, the International Medical Corps conducted renovations on the underground shelter of Maternity Hospital No. 5, which included updates to ventilation, water supply, heating, and drainage systems.
The shelter is equipped with modern medical equipment and a powerful oxygen concentrator to assist during deliveries.
All necessary conditions have been established here to provide medical services to mothers and their newborns.
Additionally, the basement areas have been renovated to create a temporary shelter for residents of nearby houses.
"I thank our partners for their support. We have provided the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power, including autonomous power for the shelter and the women's clinic," emphasized Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Furthermore, modern resuscitation equipment has been purchased for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance has been acquired using city budget funds.
Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in obstetric care for preterm deliveries and intensive therapy for newborns with extremely low birth weights starting from 500 grams.
