Odessa and France have formalized a memorandum of cooperation in the healthcare sector. This agreement includes the establishment of a Mental Health Center within one of Odessa's clinical hospitals.
The ongoing military conflict has significantly affected many people, especially veterans and displaced individuals. It is crucial to ensure access to quality psychological and psychiatric care for all residents of the city.
A working group is currently assessing the technical condition and infrastructure of healthcare facilities in Odessa. French doctors are expected to visit our hospitals in the future to share their professional knowledge and practical skills.
«Our aim is to collaborate with Expertise France to create conditions where everyone in need of assistance can receive it promptly and without barriers. Supporting mental health is not just about treating illnesses; it's also about prevention, education, and combating stigma. We aspire to build a healthy community where everyone feels safe», said Gennadiy Trukhanov.
The Mayor of Odessa expressed gratitude to the French people and the Government of France for their attention and invaluable assistance, highlighting the personal contribution of the French Embassy in Ukraine to fostering cooperation and supporting city initiatives.
The memorandum was signed by Odessa's Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov on the city's side, and on the French side, by Ms. Sofia Oliinyk, Director of Expertise France in Ukraine, which is part of the French Development Agency (AFD).
Also present at the signing were the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, Mr. Igor Kopach, and the head of the French Development Agency office in Ukraine, Ms. Axel Nos.
The memorandum outlines a comprehensive partnership in healthcare, particularly addressing issues related to mental health, rehabilitation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
