On September 18, 2025, the Odesa mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, inaugurated the international platform «Bionic Forum: Ukraine’s Rehabilitation & Reforms».

The event welcomed representatives from the Verkhovna Rada, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and various healthcare and social protection institutions.

Over two days, discussions focused on state policies and international experiences in military and civilian rehabilitation, including advancements in exoskeletons and bionic implants.

“This forum marks the beginning of real actions. Rehabilitation is not just a medical issue; it’s about integrating people with disabilities into active social and economic life in Ukraine,” stated the mayor.

The Odesa city government has been systematically developing its veteran rehabilitation systems, with modern facilities operating in four hospitals.

A new powerful rehabilitation center is being created in one of the city hospitals, combining medical care, educational programs, adaptive sports, and social integration.

Adaptive sports methodologies are actively integrated into veteran rehabilitation, with a local team recently participating in a Venetian regatta.

The «Bionic Forum: Ukraine’s Rehabilitation & Reforms» in Odesa will serve as a strategic platform for developing the national rehabilitation system, fostering constructive dialogue for effective policies and solutions.
