Renovation works have begun at the Odesa Infectious Hospital.

This hospital is the oldest medical institution in the city, established between 1802 and 1804 on the initiative of Duke Richelieu. It serves as a crucial bastion of southern Ukraine against dangerous infectious diseases.

Residents of Odesa, the surrounding area, and internally displaced persons receive assistance here. In recent years, the hospital has been transitioning into a modern medical center capable of effectively responding to any challenges.

As part of the recovery program for Ukraine, implemented by the Government and the European Investment Bank, work is ongoing in two buildings of the hospital.

In the Valikhivskyi building, which is an architectural monument, all structural elements are being reinforced during the renovation, and authentic interior details as well as marble staircases are being restored. Currently, demolition work is being carried out, structures are being reinforced, and ceilings are being armored and poured with concrete.

The internal spaces in this hospital building will be redesigned according to modern standards, and all old engineering networks will be completely replaced.

In the administrative building, the roof has been replaced, and facade restoration work is nearing completion. Inside the building, work is ongoing to install partitions, finish rooms, and replace engineering systems — ventilation, water supply, sewage, and electricity.

In addition to funding from the European Bank, repairs to other hospital buildings are also financed from the city budget. The renovation of the two-story children's building is in the final stage, where a modern boxed department with 82 beds is being created.

Funding from the city budget is also allocated for updating the drainage system and strengthening the foundation of the bacteriological laboratory.
