Ukraine is preparing to implement new electronic medical certificates in 2026, which will be required for adoption and obtaining driver's licenses.
Director of the eHealth Department at the National Health Service of Ukraine, Dmytro Chernysh, announced this during the eHealth Day event at the Public Health exhibition.
“We are working on launching new electronic medical certificates for adoption and drivers. These are essential documents that need to be digitized to simplify and enhance transparency in the processes,” Chernysh stated.
He also mentioned that implementing electronic medical certificates will require amendments to the legislation, including relevant resolutions and laws.
Additionally, this year, the next stage of electronic services in the rehabilitation sector is planned, focusing on electronic prescriptions for assistive devices for patients.
“Previously, these data were processed on paper; now they will be automatically transmitted to the Ministry of Social Policy so that patients can receive the necessary devices more quickly,” Chernysh added.
Starting in 2026, a program for preventive medical examinations for individuals over 40 years old will also launch in Ukraine to detect dangerous diseases at early stages. Participants will be able to receive funding for examinations through the “Diya” app.
