The Department of Health of the Odesa City Council is actively developing innovative rehabilitation methods for Ukrainian defenders, incorporating adaptive sports as a key component. Recently, an important meeting took place at the Odesa City Hall, focusing on the prevention and treatment of stress-related disorders among military personnel and veterans through physical activity and esports.

Specialists from medical institutions, including rehabilitation experts, sports physicians, and psychologists, participated in the event, along with representatives from the Department of Physical Culture.

Vasyl Rybak, the head of the rehabilitation department, emphasized that esports and virtual reality can significantly enhance the physical and psychological well-being of patients. Regular training not only improves physical capabilities but also fosters mental skills, including emotional regulation and sleep quality.

The main objective of the initiative is to develop a comprehensive program for treating stress disorders and facilitating social adaptation. The program will incorporate international best practices, drawing on experiences from leading countries such as the USA and the UK.

Plans are underway to establish working groups within medical facilities to integrate esports into rehabilitation programs. This will allow for a tailored approach to the treatment of each patient.

It is anticipated that the introduction of esports will lead to improved physical condition among participants, reduced stress levels, and the establishment of social communities for support through team-based activities.

Veterans who have undergone rehabilitation through adaptive sports also attended the meeting, sharing their successful experiences and demonstrating the use of virtual reality systems for individuals with disabilities.
