This October, the capital of Austria will host the conference «Days of Cultural Friendship», during which the festival «Golden Violins of Odesa» will be held on October 18.
This was discussed during the meeting between Odesa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and Vienna's city council representative Mr. Thomas Resh, which took place in the partner city.
«It is important for us to introduce the world to Ukrainian culture. Almost all festival participants are graduates of the legendary Odesa School named after Stolyarsky. We are thrilled that our collaboration with Vienna will result in such a wonderful cultural event,» said the Mayor of Odesa.
Additionally, during the meeting, the sides discussed other aspects of their joint efforts, particularly the extensive experience of the Vienna authorities in cooperating with UNESCO, as the historic center of the city has been listed as a World Heritage Site since 2001.
«We are very pleased that our city has been chosen to host this conference and festival. We are ready to provide all necessary support for the organization,» noted Mr. Res.
The Vienna side also proposed holding a joint round table to discuss the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and the management of a large UNESCO site using Vienna as an example.
