An athlete from Odessa has achieved great success by winning gold at the summer European Youth Olympic festival.
The final match of the student from Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 4 ended with a victory over her opponent from Turkey, marking an important milestone.
Ilaria Tsurkan competed in four matches at the festival in Skopje and won all of them. In the final, the Odessa native triumphed thanks to a submission hold on the arm.
In February, she impressed everyone with her performance at the senior European Cup in Ljubljana, winning bronze, and also clinched victories in three consecutive cadet tournaments in Porec, Teplice, and Lignano.
This year, Ilaria became the Ukrainian champion in judo among cadets, earned gold at the junior European Cup in judo, and achieved the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Her coach, Oleg Spivak, was instrumental in her preparation for this success.
