Olympic champion from Odesa, Alina Komashchuk, has made history by winning her first individual medal at the European Fencing Championships held in Genoa.

This achievement was announced by the Ukrainian Fencing Federation.

On June 15, Alina Komashchuk secured a silver medal at the European Fencing Championships, which took place in the Italian city of Genoa.

In the finals of the women's sabre competition, she lost to the current European champion from France, Sara Nocchi, with a score of 6:15.

On her way to the final, the Ukrainian displayed impressive form: initially, she confidently defeated the Italian Marielle Viale, a medalist from junior world and European championships, and in the semifinals, she overcame the strong Polish fencer Sylwia Matuszak.

This silver medal is a significant milestone for Komashchuk, as she has previously stood on the podium at European Championships as part of the team but had never medaled individually.
