From August 7 to 17, the World Games 2025 are taking place in the Chinese city of Chengdu.

Renowned athlete from Odesa, Angelika Terlyuga, competing in karate (55 kg category), secured a silver medal in women's kumite, reaffirming her status as one of the strongest karateka in the world.

This was her second competition since giving birth, and in the semifinals, she faced Chinese competitor Yuchun Wei.

The initial score was 1:9 in favor of the Chinese athlete. After the semifinals, a protest was filed regarding the match result, leading to a final score of 4:3 in favor of Terlyuga.

Consequently, Angelika advanced to the finals of the 55 kg category, where she competed against German athlete Mia Bitsch. Unfortunately, she lost in the final with a score of 3-1, earning a silver medal.

Her coach is her husband, honored coach of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zaretsky.
