In the city of Odesa, adaptive sports programs for veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being actively implemented.
With the collaboration of public and sports organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities, various sports such as wheelchair basketball, table tennis, billiards, golf, swimming, diving, and boxing are being integrated into rehabilitation initiatives.
Engaging in sports and participating in athletic environments assists veterans in adapting to societal life.
For instance, Armed Forces of Ukraine veterans Dmitry Danilov, Sergey Kotsyuba, and Valery Chuguev are part of the national billiards team for athletes with mobility impairments and will participate in the WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship - 2024 in Los Angeles.
The training and participation of Odesa athletes have been made possible through the support of the Rehabilitation Department of the Odesa City Council's Health Department.
