Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, have signed a crucial agreement to enhance Ukraine's energy sector.

According to "European Truth," Shmyhal announced this on his Facebook page.

The agreement between Ukraine and the EBRD involves attracting 270 million euros backed by state guarantees, along with a grant of 140 million euros from the Norwegian government.

"This will enable Naftogaz of Ukraine to import substantial volumes of natural gas in preparation for the upcoming heating season," Shmyhal explained.

He noted that since the onset of the full-scale war, the EBRD has mobilized over 6 billion euros for Ukraine in the form of loans, grants, and guarantees.

Earlier reports indicated that by 2025, the EBRD plans to invest at least 1.5 billion euros to support Ukraine's economy and business during wartime.

Specifically, 1 billion euros is intended for the energy sector support in Ukraine.
