Google Drive has launched a new feature that allows users to view videos by hovering over thumbnails on the progress bar, similar to YouTube. This update will be available for all new videos uploaded via the web interface or mobile app. However, thumbnails will only be visible in the web version of Google Drive.
The company states that this addition aims to improve user interaction with video content and expedite the process of finding specific segments. It is noted that this feature does not apply to older videos uploaded prior to this update.
Google indicates that the update will gradually become available to all users: Google Workspace subscribers, individual users, and personal account holders.
Early access to this feature was opened on July 22, with broader rollout scheduled for August 20 of this year.
