Google has decided to continue supporting all goo.gl shortened URLs created with the Google URL Shortener service, contrary to previous announcements.

On August 1, it was announced that links would remain active and function as before. Google points out that many of these links are embedded in documents, videos, and posts, prompting a change in response to user feedback.

Last July, Google announced plans to deactivate all goo.gl links by August 25, 2025, citing a decrease in their usage. According to the company, over 99% of these addresses had not received any traffic recently.

However, the company is now revising its plans – only those links that have had no activity since the end of 2024 will be deactivated. Links that continue to receive traffic will remain available to users.
