In Odesa, the restoration process is ongoing following the devastating flood that affected Rybalska Balka Street. This street suffered significant damage due to heavy rains on September 30. The rushing water caused severe soil erosion, resulting in widespread destruction of the road infrastructure.

Local residents report that such flooding has not been seen in decades. Additional complications arose from works conducted last year by unidentified individuals, who cut into the hillside where the "Odesa" sanatorium is located. Those activities were halted at the time, but after the flood, there is now a real threat of the sanatorium's fence collapsing.

First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Filatov reported that during the cleanup efforts, a number of legal violations regarding the privatization of land parcels were discovered.

This involves two state acts issued in 2008 and 2009, which granted ownership rights to lands that belong to the community, effectively road sections.

“The city authorities have initiated a review of all ownership documents related to developments along the balka. At the same time, legal actions are being prepared to contest actions that violate the law prohibiting privatization of community lands without local government consent,” said Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Municipal services are currently engaged in clearing the area of mud and debris.

Temporary drainage solutions are being implemented, and the design of a new collector is underway to ensure the future stability of Rybalska Balka Street.
