In Odessa, police apprehended a man suspected of murdering a friend. The suspect fatally assaulted his acquaintance with a bottle, kicks, and punches over suspicion of wallet theft. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

Recently, near a high-rise building on Heroes of Krut Street, a local woman discovered a bloodied male body and called the police. A forensic team and a mobile DNA lab were dispatched to the site. In less than half an hour, law enforcement identified the suspect as a 37-year-old man with a history of theft convictions.

"Police found that the night before, the suspect and his 43-year-old acquaintance had been consuming alcohol in a courtyard between buildings. During the drunken gathering, the younger man could not find his wallet and began accusing the older man of stealing it. In the ensuing conflict, he beat him to death with a glass bottle, kicks, and punches.

The body of the deceased was sent for a forensic examination to determine the cause of death, while the suspect was located nearby and arrested in accordance with legal procedures. The police seized a wallet that he had not noticed in his pocket, which he thought was stolen, along with bloodied clothing and other items relevant to the investigation," the statement said.

Investigators have charged the detained individual with intentional murder, a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Following the investigators' request, the court chose to keep the suspect in custody.
