To enhance road safety and effectively respond to winter weather, the municipal enterprise «City Roads» in Odesa is implementing a series of essential measures.
Traditionally, by late November to early December, the staff completes street cleaning operations and prepares the equipment. They remove tanks from washing vehicles and replace them with salt and sand spreaders.
Winter attachments are installed, and most of the equipment is equipped with snow plows. Additionally, all machinery undergoes inspection and preventive maintenance. After completing the preparations, the equipment will be tested on the premises of the enterprise.
The «City Roads» enterprise has at its disposal: snow removal vehicles, sand spreaders, graders, excavators, «Globus» snowplows, loaders, combined road machines, and other equipment. In total, during the 2025-2026 winter season, 104 units of machinery will be deployed along with 560 workers who will carry out snow removal and ice management tasks.
As of December 4, the equipment has been retrofitted and is ready for winter conditions.
The enterprise is also preparing anti-ice sand-salt mixtures. In case of worsening weather conditions, they are stocked with 10,363 tons of reagents for treating road surfaces.
«City Roads» has developed 17 routes for snow removal vehicles to ensure prompt cleaning of roads from snow drifts and tackling ice. Additionally, there are 54 routes designated for salting streets to mitigate risks during icy conditions.
Since December 1, 2025, round-the-clock duty teams from «City Roads» have been established for quick response in case of adverse weather. The monitoring rooms are prepared, and staff operating the equipment are provided with winter clothing.
