On the evening of February 11, a fatal car accident occurred on Ivan Funtovyi Street in Odesa. A 29-year-old driver of a «Toyota» lost control and crashed into a power pole, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old passenger, while the driver was hospitalized with injuries.
According to Dmytro Slyuta, head of the transportation crime investigation department in Odesa region, it has been preliminarily established that the driver lost control of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the passenger suffered fatal injuries. The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was tested for alcohol, returning a negative result.
Investigators have entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns violations of traffic safety rules leading to the death of a victim. A number of forensic examinations have been appointed within the proceedings. All circumstances of the incident are being established. Investigative actions are ongoing.
