This was reported by the head of the BEB detectives, Oleksandr Tkachuk, during a roundtable with the «Ukrtyutun» Association.
According to the BEB, 16 greenhouses were established in the fields of the Ovidiopol community in the Odesa region. The tobacco was cultivated using a drip irrigation system, promoting optimal growth conditions for the plants.
After harvesting, the tobacco leaves were dried for several months in specially equipped facilities. Subsequently, the dried raw material was processed on an industrial line and packaged into boxes. Investigators claim that the finished tobacco product was intended for illegal sale across Ukraine, disguised as goods from well-known brands.
BEB detectives seized nearly 56 tons of tobacco products that had been grown and processed. Equipment for planting, irrigation hoses, and an industrial line for drying and shredding tobacco were also confiscated. The seized items were sent for necessary judicial examinations as part of the investigation.
