Between 2022 and 2024, many cities in Ukraine have seen a rise in urban public transport fares, despite the ongoing state of war.
The current fare system for passenger transport in Odesa was established in 2021 and is now due for a review.
Since 2022, rising costs due to increased prices for parts and materials have necessitated adjustments to fare structures.
The municipal enterprise «OMET» has conducted calculations for fare adjustments in compliance with current regulations.
According to these calculations, the fare for one passenger on trams and trolleybuses is set at 17.69 UAH, while the fare for the funicular is 16.93 UAH.
The validity of these calculations has been confirmed by the Department of Economic Development of the Odesa City Council.
To maintain service quality and ensure proper maintenance of trams, trolleybuses, and overhead lines, a new fare of 15.00 UAH will be implemented for single rides.
Additionally, discounts for students and pupils will remain in place: fares for pupils will be 2.00 UAH, for students 4.00 UAH, and for the general public 7.00 UAH.
It is anticipated that the fare adjustments will take effect on December 1, 2024.
Moreover, starting December 1, local carriers plan to increase fares to 20 UAH within the city and 40 UAH for trips up to 6 km on the Ovidiopol road.
