The city of Odesa is actively preparing for the upcoming heating season of 2024/25.

Given the constant threats to the country's energy infrastructure, a top priority is to lower energy consumption in municipal enterprises.

According to Deputy Mayor Hanna Pozdnyakova, most pumps at the municipal enterprise «TMO» are significantly worn out and consume excessive amounts of electricity.

Thus, ahead of the new heating season, discussions were held between the management of «TMO» and the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine regarding the supply of four pumps, each with a capacity of 200 kW. The expected outcome is a reduction in energy consumption amidst shortages.

Under the signed Memorandum, the Swiss Embassy financed the purchase of equipment worth approximately 12 million hryvnias.

In early October, four anticipated pumps arrived in Odesa. The equipment is currently being installed at one of the facilities of the "Municipal Heat Supply of Odesa", which services over 100,000 consumers and more than 421 administrative buildings, including medical, educational, cultural, and religious institutions.

“This equipment is vital for the heating supply of Odesa. With lower energy costs, it will help provide thermal energy to consumers in the central part of the city. Reducing consumption is particularly important during power outages and generator operations,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Odesa expresses gratitude to international partners for their ongoing technical support for the city's critical infrastructure.
