YouTube has started testing a new tool that enables content creators to add co-authors to their videos. According to Engadget, this feature resembles the collaborative publication methods used on Instagram and TikTok. Its main goal is to enhance cross-promotion among different audiences.
Main authors will be able to specify other co-authors, and their names will appear alongside the main author’s name on the channel page. If there are many co-authors, the mobile version will display the phrase “...and others,” which will reveal a full list of individuals with subscription buttons.
The process of adding a co-author to a video will likely be similar to Instagram and TikTok: the main content creator will need to send an invitation that the other author must accept. It is currently unclear whether co-authors will have access to the video analytics that the main author can see.
A Google representative stated on the YouTube Help forum that this feature is presently available to a limited number of users. YouTube plans to consider feedback from testers before deciding on a broader rollout of the feature.
